In the year 2017 Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it was the top-streamed track during the course of six months. It was a combination of reggaeton and pop which not only brought attention to Latin music but as well reggaeton. Billboard's Top 100 in 2015 had two songs mostly of Spanish languages, while the year in 2016 there were four. In the midst of the Despacito's popularity in 2017, there were 19 predominantly Spanish songs that were included in the top 100. And in 2020 it was 41. In the wake of Justin Bieber's dual remix to Despacito (2017) popular musicians soon started collaborating with reggaeton artists, including Drake and Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) as well as Madonna with Maluma in Medellin (2019). A few performers of reggaeton expressed their displeasure at the rise of mainstream music in 2020. A new band, Rauw Alejandro, wanted to continue the development and growth of reggaeton. Incorporating elements of electronic dance music, and various other genres was a typical procedure.
